Helping Veterans Heal

Ephrata Workshop July 21st

"From War Front to Home Front: Helping Veterans Heal", a free training for clergy and lay leaders of all faiths to help returning Veterans and their families, will be held July 21st, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Ephrata, 172 Ivy Street SE, Ephrata, WA 98823.  Please share this information with your congregation and others who may be interested.  You can download a flyer for posting here.

Come and learn about issues facing our military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Find out how you can help and about appropriate referrals.  Please register with Zachary Lam - lam@thewac.org no later than Monday, July 19th, so we can plan for materials and lunch.

This training is part of The Veterans Support Network, a project of the Washington Association of Churches and co-sponsored by the Pacific North
west Conference United Church of Christ's Christian Life, Service and Action Committee, as well as by the Washington State Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and First Presbyterian Church of Ephrata.

Speaking at this event will be Chaplain Tim Loney, who is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and is a 14-year Veteran of the Navy and Navy Reserve, including two tours in Iraq with the Marine Corps. Tim was a keynote speaker on Combat Stress at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Washington State Mental Health Counselors Assocation, and has extensive experience helping Veterans and their families locate resources and support in the Pacific Northwest. Other presenters include Marian Fletcher Beaumier, LICSW, director of ACT Ministries, as well as David Baird, LICSW, of the Spokane Veterans Outreach Center.
